To celebrate
Wattle day, the students of Room 17 and 29 went around the community delivering
Wattle Day cards. The students worked hard in creating cards that had a
positive message for the people of Wattle Grove. The sun was shining and the
students enjoyed getting into the community. It was a great way to start spring
and share some kindness with others.
Golden Wattle
(Acacia pycnantha) is Australia's national flower. The Golden Wattle blooms in
spring, with large fluffy, yellow, sweet smelling flower heads. Each Golden
Wattle flower head is a bunch of many tiny flowers. Acacias are popularly
called Wattle. Since the Golden Wattle is native to Australia's Capital
territory, the flower was the obvious choice for the floral emblem.
